164: Chief Keef NYC Debut at SOBs

Chief Keef makes his first NYC performance. Sounds Of Brazil seems to be on the forefront in bringing some of the biggest and popular hits first. I like the size of the venue best, along with the 'friendly' venue. I expected some hood house party vibe, and Keef did not disappoint.

163: VEVO Presents Rita Ora at Gramercy Theatre

VEVO did a free Rita Ora show. I showed up mad late due to work and thus was all I was able to capture from a distance. She grabbed a few audience members to help her perform her rendition of Party and Bullshit.

162: Captain Morgan Into The Black Presents Ryan Leslie at Converse Rubber Tracks

Captain Morgan put on a music series campaign for the summer at Converse Rubber Tracks. This time it was to promote Captain Morgan Black, a darker version of their traditional rum. The ambassador for this event was Ryan Leslie. He had a band to back him up on instrumentals. He came out in the trendy black and gold rapper ensemble of the year. His performance had a nice flair. Check the videos that I recorded with my iPhone, as I honestly did not care about taking any pictures or good video with this show.

161: Soundset at Canterbury Park

A hip-hop music festival in a field on a hot day at the beginning of the summer with all these artists for forty dollars? FUCK YEAH.

Atmosphere, Lupe Fiasco, Ghostface Killah & Raekwon, Kendrick Lamar, Aesop Rock with Rob Sonic & Dj Big Wiz, P.O.S, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Danny Brown, Big K.R.I.T, Evidence, Prof with DJ Fundo, Action Bronson, DJ Premier, I Self Devine, Astronautalis, Bambu, J-Zone (DJ set), Medusa, Chief Kamachi, Grynch, Chuuwee, Paten Locke and Willie Evans Jr. are DUMBTRON, Villa Rosa (Muja Messiah & Maria Isa), The Tribe & Big Cats, Audio Perm, Long Doe (Tony Bones, Big Wiz & Mike The Martyr), Auddio Draggon (Gene Poole & Xilam Balam), Tomorrow Genius, BdotCroc, DJ Stage One, DJ Kool AKIEM, LAST WORD, Kid Cut Up, Superbrush427, DIVINCI (of Solillaquists of Sound), Los Boogie.

I was there for mostly Lupe Fiasco and Atmosphere though, as I had not seen either fully before. There were two stages, and the temperature forecast was ninety five and humid. I wore a Jordan jersey with shorts and some Nike free 2.0s. I had a crazy tan line from the basketball jersey and sunglasses. The event was pretty awesome until the end. The ending was crazy, a tornado touched down and the weather was hitting the fan. Lupe's set was to be shut short and Atmosphere did not get to perform, except at the after party. If you watch the final video I captured, you will see what I mean with Lupe being cut. Minutes after that, the rain started coming down hard similar to light hail and the wind was blowing at a good thirty miles per hour. Enjoy.

159: The EA Sports Challenge at Terminal 5

EA Sports held a sports challenge with their football and hockey franchises games. There was a performance after by Jadakiss. Jadakiss stood in one place and spit his bars, looking like he was going to pass out after each verse.

158: RocNation Presents Casey Veggies & Rita Ora at SOBs

RocNation presents Casey Veggies and Rita Ora with Young Guru on the music. This show was interesting because of Casey's use of disco-like lights which made taking pictures difficult as they were random and everywhere, making photo setting adjustments complicated. Rita Ora has a live band which was a plus and a minus depending on the band's skill in my opinion. If the band is talented, then the performance can be equivalent to that of the audio production, but if they are off it will just sound really rattle like.

157: White Space Project at Adidas Originals Soho with Yuna and Coco+Breezy

Adidas Originals hosted an event for Coco+Breezy and Yuna as creative and individuality ambassadors  for young women.

After the concert I ran into a few people at a Vice after party event at Hotel Chantelle. They had these
big ass beer bottles and Theophilus London was doing a DJ set.

156: Origin Rocks Earth Month at Webster Hall

Origins gave free earth day tickets to a concert featuring Vanessa Carlton and Gavin Degraw. I get there as Vanessa has one or a few tracks left to perform. After the set up of the stage for Gavin, I take a photo and a video the concert.

155: New York International Auto Show at the Jacob Javits Center

I got passes via an exhibitor to check this out. The place was humongous. Each space was not even fully used. It was interesting to see the way that the place was arranged with the profitable companies purchasing spaces closest to the entrance. This is a good marketing strategy with visibility when attendees arrive and as the last thing they see when leaving. Here is my selections from the show. My favorite has to either be the BMW i or Honda NSX concept.
