16

So I took a shot in the dark yesterday. I posted a Craigslist ad for a Wiz Khalifa ticket for one hundred twenty online. Some girl responded. I was to meet up with her at the door from seven thirty to eight or so, but Cathy got here late to cover for me, and then when I got there or was on the way there, she bought a ticket already. I tried selling my ticket to people at the door, but most of them were broke asses. I decided to go to the show instead. I tried to see if I could get Jake to get me inside and cut the line, because I was lazy and did not want to wait. I stood around outside hitting up various people to see if they wanted a ticket while trying to get a hold of Jake. Apparently Jake was not there until the Yelawolf performance which I found out from him when I got a hold of him inside. I met Zach and Mikey along with Lauren and their pregnant friend outside. I went inside with them. First thing I noticed inside was the packed place and the general age of the majority crowd. The average age of a concert goer that night was about fourteen. Believe me, these kids had their fake ID game on point. The place was up in smoke as expected as well. Zach was smoking at the bar and the security took that joint away. That was a funny point of the night. Another thing, there were two girls pulled onto the stage, both looking fourteen or fifteen, one girl had a supper barely there short sparkly dress. If you go on stage bitch, expect to dance. If you are not going to dance, get the fuck off. If you have a boyfriend, why the fuck are you on the stage to begin?

Surprise of the night? Yelawolf lived well up to the buzz as I have not heard much for him and him being a newcomer. He acted like someone who has been performing for years before. He brought a freshness to a scene of blandness with a unique persona and style. He is like what happened if Eminem get spliced with Twista. His marketing team could be doing a better job, but they sufficiently did their job as he is now touring with Wiz Khalifa, which gets his name out there very well.

Wiz Khalifa performed as usual. He was not a diva like the first time like last year when I saw him. His hype men were there as usual. He performed many songs off his Kush and OJ mix-tape. That is my gripe with the performance. Kush and OJ was a very instrumental and jazz-like driven composition. Many of the instrumentals for the tracks last night sounded like a sped up version of the originals with added sounds.  Maybe it was where I was at as well, but many instrumentals sounded like the Blowing Money Fast by Rick Ross beat. Many different versions of Rick Ross were played throughout the night as well. The audience was very sheep-like in that they seemed to be all clones of each other without any life or style or knowledge. They were all robotic. This is the part where you say I am a hater. I call it very critical or opinionated personally. His repertoire for the performance did not out do the second performance at Varsity theater. The Varsity theater is by far his better show. I am not a fan of super packed crowds unless I was in the front early or completely drunk. I had no drinks but did have a five hour energy shot.

The show ended around half past midnight. I ran into Jennifer, who was this friend of a friend, I do not know which one, but she was someone I was following via Twitter and such from the area. It was dark and I did not know who it was or could see, she noticed me apparently somehow. Too many times a day, people see me, and I go "Who is this? How do I know them?". This was the second time today, earlier at work it happened as well, but then I remembered it was the girl that works at Kowloon in Dinkytown.

Cathy texted me around the same time the show ended. She did not drop the key off at my place, so she met me downtown at First Avenue to give me the work key. She gave me a ride to Caffrey's. I thanked her for bringing me over there. She flipped the switches wrong on the control box for the shop closing at the end of the night. She told me she got it right, because she left some lights on in the the shop. I was frustrated in this because lights on means energy used. Energy used when it doesn't need to be is money wasted, especially when no one is in there overnight. I ordered a Blue Cow with my free sandwich card and a potato salad. I use my card for the one something, but get a pop as well so that the credit card is more since they get charged per transaction. I get Dr. Pepper and wait for my sandwich. I get the sandwich and potato salad, but walk like two blocks home before I realize, I DO NOT HAVE MY KEYS (this happens a lot) and walk to Caffrey's. I look on the table and there it is. I leave and jog home instead, because I wanted to eat my sandwich pretty badly. I get home and eat while watching the new Nightmare On Elm Street movie. I finish and do not know what happened in the movie at all. Sleep starts here then.

Zoinks.

Last night I went to watch 'The Social Network' which is a dramatization of story of Facebook's creation. It was directed by David Fincher along with some no name actors with composser Trent Reznor on the mood music. The movie starts out very awkwardly with Mark and Erica in a college bar on a date. I will leave it at that simply. The movie follows the sorting of ownership of the previously next-level facebook.

David Fincher cinematographical shots were varied and the wardrobe fit very well. The tone of mostly seriousness with some comedy, but not saying, "Hey laught at this part!" type comedy. The five dollar movie was unfortunately decently packed, with about twenty people in the theater along with myself. Yes, to me that was packed. What was worst is that one fat dude with one average dude both sat like 5 seats to the left of me. I like my seat too much. I wish the two dudes could of "Fucked Off" and found another row. I guess that is the price you pay when you get the row that has metal rails in front for a footrest. Another thing, the seats do not recline. FUCK.

The movie ends around a little after midnight. I missd the twelve eleven bus that goes across the street from Barfly. I end up having another night of walking to Uptown from Downtown. I text while I walked. I also did so much "Vs. Social Standard" stickering. If you walk along Hennepin street through to MCTC to Loring Park to The Walker Art Center to Hennepin to Lake to home, you should be able to see a sticker somewhere, hopefully everywhere. I will continue to post up as well more. I bet the cop rejects that work downtown will end up removiing a lot of them possibly. I hit up the SuperAmerica at twenty sixth and Hennepin for some goodies to go. I end up getting home about near two in the morning. The bus left downtown at like one eleven. If I took that bus, I would have been home at about one thirty or forty five after one. Oh well, you live and you learn and you experience. I would not exchange that for anything, except abnormal amounts of cash or gold probably.

Up and out!
p.s. God grwing an asian beard is grimey and slow. I feel like a dirty immigrant or something from not shaving. POST 15! Halfway through the month of nothingness. . . . .

Words

Words from a Twenty Seven year old Tokyo Japan transplant:
I'm just doing something I've always wanted to do. Found myself aging faster than I was accomplishing my goals and aspirations so I sold everything, quit my job, dumped my girl and moved to Tokyo to learn Japanese bartending and generally just live life the way I want to live it. Never been happier.

Thanks for the kind words. Respect.

This echoes some of my sentiments. I just do not have the gamble to take on something like this right now. I  like to play the safe choice many a times in my decision making positions.

Nike Sportswear 2010 Holiday Footscape Woven

There is something about these shoes that is difficult to resist for me.

Here’s a preview of the latest Air Footscape Woven from Nike’s Sportswear line. The shoe seamlessly blends lightweight and durable materials, including a tightly woven nylon upper and a neoprene neck. Forming part of this year’s Holiday collection, the Woven model is not often seen in Winter colors, and it’s especially nice to see materials that aren’t so easily ruined. Decorated in a two-tone navy/grey colorway, this edition should be wearable all year round.

Streetwear Thoughts

Growing up means change. It can mean change for the better and for the worst.
This is all relative. Comfort is key.

Streetwear growth DOES NOT MEAN full corporate world apparel. Suit and Ties fully replacing your closet of just tees is not growth, but filling another lifestyle.

Streetwear is partially about how things are worn, not what is worn as well in a small part.

Ugh, semi-hate that word above as well, but it is one of the better fitting words to fill the blank for the moment.

Breaking Bread Sessions with Brian Mendoza of Wings + Horns

Breaking Bread Sessions with Brian Mendoza of Wings + Horns
Breaking Bread Sessions is a new podcast. In their first episode they talked to Brian Mendoza of Wings + Horns. They talk about how the Dayton Boot came to be and how the CYC Design owner gave the name to Tiger Fleece. You can listen to it now here.

So yesterday was semi-payday. I say semi because the money all went to bills and the usual 'life payments'. I watched soccer games instead of working and American football. The Vikings were not playing, so fuck the NFL then. In other sports, the Twins lost as well one to two. The Twins are like one for eight games recently going into the playoffs against the Yankees (FUCKTHEYANKEES). Wednesday and Thursday are games in at Target Field, which should be good since this is the inaugural season.

Listening to this Breaking Bread session with Brian Mendoza and these Canadian asian designers, they are pretty much how I expect them to be. Geeky and dorky. Cool conversation and audio recording. It is about a half hour long. The guys talk about watches to spending to designing and portfolio and such. The change goes towards wings&horns re-branding to wings+horns to even w+h in different font and style

I get ready to leave work. I end up going to take a piss like usual when I need to before leaving. I hear voices, so I hurry my pissing and go to check. Sometimes my ears play tricks on my and I end up hearing things, but today it was not. There are two people shopping around while I am dressed in Northface and backpack ready to bounce. I realize then that I will not be going on the bus I expected to catch. I chill and wait, then the girl grabs a top and then I realize that she will be copping something. I fire up the computer register and such. Sweet, a sale and a medium sized one, before leaving last minute. I was glad these people did not make me wait for no reason. I end up catching the bus to Lake and Hennepin and take the twenty one bus along Lake to by K-Mart. Along the walk to the bus stop I posted at least a good five Vs. Social Standard stickers upon poles or signs here and there. Recently I have been carrying a stack of the stickers. Uptown, Downtown, and Minneapolis in general will see my sticker wrath. I put them along poles everywhere I walk, especially on the way home or to places for food, or at the bus stop. My most notable recent trip was after the twenty one, I asked these kids that are like 'jerking' at the stop where the eighteen stop going north on Nicollet is. The kids point me in the direction to a shelter that was like half a block away. Nicollet and Lake intersection is a weird section of bus stops and bus shelters with one-ways and two-ways. I end up getting on the eighteen and getting off like five minutes later, especially when the bus driver was taking forever along with the rider to board. From now on, I realized I could walk from getting off of the twenty one to Quang's much easier and faster as it was not to long of a distance. I hit up Mel to see what she grabs from there usually aside from their pho (broth too fatty) or the Bun Bo Hue(my usual). She said one of the pork chops with broken rice platters. I get in there, and the place is SWAMPED. I get there about like seven or so. There was a wait list to be seated. FUCK THAT. I was taking a to go. It is times like these that being solo is nice; imagine if I was having dinner with someone, my impatience would have ran and had a mindsplosion waiting. I ordered the 'Quang's original grilled pork chops over broken rice' platter with the dessert that is green on both sides and has that cake-like yellow stuff in between. The total was like ten nineteen and it came out pretty quick. I take the eighteen across the street a few blocks. I see the twenty one go by as I get off the eighteen. I decide to just walk it with the platter in my hand. I had Blue Flame in my ear, a dinner platter in my hand, and a stack of stickers. I posted while walking along Lake all the way back to my place. I get home about eight twenty or so.

The dinner platter was decently priced and still warm for how long a distance I walked. The gripe I had was with the huge lettuce sheet they gave, like what the fuck am I supposed to do with this? Was I suppose to eat the platter like a wrap? Nuoc cham came with the lettuce, along with pickled daikon and carrot on the side. I poured the nuoc cham on the rice and chops and demolished the huge lettuce that took over the container. The broken rice was a new thing to me. The pork chops taste like something my mom or grandma has made before. I had some of the dark chili oil in a container left over from a trip to Shueng Cheng that I poured on it as well. Spicy:) I watched most of Jonah Hex while eating this also. I finished it finally after trying a few times in a few days to watch it. The movie was BAD. After the movie, it was nine thirty or so. I head out to go to the Joell Ortiz performance.

I walk along thirty second street to the Bryant park and cut through the baseball field to go to the SuperAmerica. I hit that place up and cop a RedBull so I do not fall asleep, but eventually sort of do, more on that later. I continue my plastering of the street along the way to Cause formerly known as Sauce, changing only one letter due to another place of the same name.  I get there and listen to this rapper from two thousand and three with the oversized Miskeen orange zip and San francisco Giants pinwheel fitted, with his skinny LRG wearing hype-man. He needed work on everything. He had one decent song out of the bunch of songs he performed. Next was this dude who called himself 'Nobuddie' pronounced like nobody. He gave 50Tyson and Eli Porter a run for their money. I give him props for doing what he believed and enjoyed though. He made a big deal that it was his birthday and he was getting older, that age of twenty six. The next group was these three friends that went by the name of 'The Bottom-feeders', who were pretty good. These guys actually had some potential. The thing I didn't like about them was it did not feel natural. Freez of Illuminous3 and St. Paul Slim went next, these two guys had their flow on point along with the energy and presence. Their shit just felt correct. The next two performers were not from Minnesota. The first was a guy name PropAnon or Propaganda Anonymous, who was from Bushwick New York. His rapping was alright. Energy was there even for a shitty looking crowd. A lifeless crowd. He tried to get a punk song called Luxury Condos out into the crowd, but they were not feeling it. It is Minneapolis, they are ready or the punk crowd is not that big out here. Joell was next up. He started with his verse off Sound Off on the Slaughterhouse album. He continued to do others, an acapella song, and then Microphone from Slaughterhouse. He went into some older hip-hop tracks to test if the crowd knew much older joints from various other heavy hitters. He then finished the performance with his verse of "Nissan, Honda, Chevy". He apparently drove ten hours with others to Minneapolis to do the performance. Brother Ali was in the house along with DJ Fundo, Eunice, and Gadget. Joell finished at about quarter after midnight. I bounced soon thereafter.

I headed to SuperAmerica after thinking for a minute outside of Cause what to eat? I grabbed a Jumbo Dog and a Polish Dog. I loaded them up with onions and relish on both, ketchup and mustard on one, and chili with cheese on the other, paid my two dollars something along with receiving my SuperAmerica points, and walked off. The dogs are not too bad for a cheap late night snack. More stickers were plasterd along the walk home from here.

I stripped and snoozed, I was tired and had to be up early to deposit some money at TCF and drop a package off in the mailroom destined for Denmark.

Last night I knew I was going to stay in. I did just that. The internet is out at my place for some reason or other. I can get on the wireless network, but it gives the limited or no connectivity exclamation point for status.

Since I was not able to get on the internet, I tried to watch the movie Jonah Hex that I downloaded. It is some western comic book influenced movie. I watched it, the second time I have tried to, and fell asleep to it again. I woke up to it during the middle of my sleep. I notice this because I have no clue as to what is going on in the movie.

I woke up to pause it and turn the backlight off on the computer, and head to sleep. I went to sleep at like eleven about.

Today has been a plus and minus so far. The plus is that Barcelona FC won along with Real Madrid for La Liga, but Manchester United tied to only get one point. They are now third in the point standings, but are still undefeated.

I need my camera back, along with a unibody Macbook Pro. Tonight I am going to see Joell Ortiz from Brooklyn New York at Cause, formerly known as Sauce, and a fourth member of Slaughterhouse hip-hop group.

Smell ya later.

Last night I got home and it was Get Cryphy dance night at First Avenue's Record Room. I ate the Philly pastrami sandwich and fries from The Great Steak & Potato Company to get some greasy kind of lining for my stomach.I also bought a Red Bull from them as I would not be able to go to the gas station before.

I get home and sort of surfed the internet for a good forty five minutes instead of napping before going to downtown. I showered and headed out. It was a chilly night. I had a polo, khakis, coach jacket, and some Jordan ones. I brought my ear plugs as well.

I walk to the bus stop and see the six going by me (FUCK!), so I check my phone and it is only forty seven after, I think there is a six U still to come. I end up walking to the Uptown Transit Center. I get  there and wait for the next bus, but not before two drunkard homeless bums get on the bus before I do. I get to downtown after like fifteen or twenty minutes, which it took so long because of Twin's traffic and a few theater shows along Hennepin Avenue. I hit up the ATM at Block E to grab twenty and go to The Depot to grab dollar cover passes from the waitress that Eli left them with before leaving for the night. I grabbed those and headed to Cryphy. I get there at about eleven thirty or so. I see many familiar faces outside and then inside there as well. It got pretty packed quickly as usual. I had my drink of a vodka red bull. I went to get a second drink and I do not know what heard me say, but it was some kind of cranberry drink that he ended up giving me. I had both these and danced the night away for the most part. I gotta waste away the calories that are empty and stockpiled during the week. Fuck, I get home and see that some cranberry or something got on my coat jacket mesh lining and is red. I have to wash that along with the pants and polo since there is probably other booze or water that spilled on it.

At the end of the night, I gave some Chevrolet Avalanche a pisser in front of his bumper on the way to the bus stop. I got on the bus and got off by Chino Latino. I start walking to Caffrey's or SuperAmerica, expecting to have a late night meal courtesy of one of those places since they open late to either half past two in the morning or even three. I walk until I see Sawatdee Express by Stella's open. It is two thirty when I get there. I decided to get some spicy chicken pad thai instead of the hot dogs or deli sub that I planned to get. Once I get the pad thai, I run from Sawatdee to my place which is about like four to five blocks away. I ran because I wanted to eat it while it was fresh and hot instead of when it is cold, which would not have tasted so great. Iate while in bed and went straight to sleep after.

Then comes today. I wake up tired. I still feel crap like symptoms still. I watched Manchester United play a crappy game and tie zero to zero. Fucking A, United is still behind Chelsea.

Tonight, probably chill and not do shit. I also sold two pairs of shoes that I bought. I have made a profit off buying those two already; I just need to flip this third one and get maximum profit. Today, or yesterday became the first day or start of not shaving all winter. It will be weird for the first few weeks or so:(

Do not confuse slim with skinny; do not confuse form fitting with painted on clothing. If you move a part of your body in a natural movement, and your skin shows or undergarments, shits too tight. Minnesota can not figure this shit out. The is for the males specifically, but can apply to females as well. If shit on you is not flattering at all, do not wear it.

Last night was another lame night. I watched another movie.  The movie was "30 Days Of Night". The plot of the movie is that of in Alaska, there is a month that there is no sunlight. The sun does not come out for a full thirty days. There are vampires that assault one of the cities in that time. There are people that avoid the slaughter and the movie follows them in their time to outlast the vampires. Josh Hartnett and Melissa George are in the starring roles of this movie. It was alright. You got to watch this if you you want more or read the synopsis on wikipedia or even imdb.com.

Today I watched the sequel to it "30 Days Of Night: Dark Days". This was good too even though the stars of the first one did not come in this sequel. The plot of this one was that Melissa George's character goes around trying to tell the story of the city in Alaska around the country that the government and others have hidden. She gets met up with some vampire hunters, and they all plan to kill the vampire 'queen' Lilith....

Wow. I have been playing the 2 J.Rocc Supreme mixes all day, and have gotten so many questions about "Who is this by?" today. The mixes are just samples off vinyl originals. Me and Nate know this because we can hear they are samples from other songs, and that is what both mixes sound like. In order to get the tracks, he had to of had the original vinyls probably. J.Rocc is Stones Throw Records family, so it makes sense that most of those samples are from that.

Angelina is such a bitch. Finally that girl is gone! The New Jersey shore was a pretty entertaining episode. Tonight is a Get Cryphy night. Peaces. Lazy.

edit: I do not quite know how to explain it, but some specific types of people will never understand sub-culture or have the authenticity of it. . .

Last night. I just watched the new Predators and chatted, and possibly texted. I went to sleep then.
